ABOUT

BOWS FOR STRINGED INSTRUMENTS is located in beautiful Palm Springs, California in the Coachella Valley, where you can enjoy brunch or numerous outdoor activities such as a hike in the San Jacinto mountains while your bow is being serviced. The location of BOWS FOR STRINGED INSTRUMENTS is easily accessible from anywhere in Southern California.

Jeff studied bow making and repair at the University of New Hampshire Violin Craftsman Institute with Lynn Hannings and George Rubino.

Before moving to Palm Springs in 2021, Jeff’s loyal bow clients in Connecticut were Hartford, New Haven, and Springfield (MA) Symphony musicians and their students, faculty and students of the Hartt School of Music, as well as other musicians from around New England.

Only the best horsehair available is used for bow clients. There are several types of hair available including very strong, Stallion that has an amazing nuance of color, strong and bright Mongolian, salt and pepper, and black hair.

Prior to Jeff’s move to California, he was principal cellist of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra beginning in 1979, followed by 43 seasons in total. He was also a private instructor of the cello with students of all ages, with many of his students winning awards and competitions.

Jeff is also an award winning, cutting-edge, electric cellist. If you are interested in hearing more about his accomplishments as a cellist, click here.

A Youtube library of his work on the electric cello can be found at the following link.
